Current Events 2008

In October the committees of Mont St Aignan and Edenbridge meet in Edenbridge to start the process of planning 2008

Following the joint committee meeting of October the 2008 season has now been mapped out.

The 2008 season is a mix of activities in the UK and France which if previous years are to be repeated will be great fun.

The 10th Anniversary 'Walking' Weekend in Edenbridge - Friday 11th to Sunday 13th April 2008

• To celebrate the 10th year of successful 'Walking Weekends' some French and English stalwart walkers are intending to walk from Mont Saint Aignan to Dieppe and after the ferry crossing, walk from Newhaven to Edenbridge, over six days arriving in Edenbridge on the Friday 11th April.
For logistic reasons this will be for a very limited number of people so if you are very keen to do this (or perhaps just the Newhaven to Edenbridge part over 3 days) please contact Geoff Darrington on 01732 864944 ASAP
• For the ordinary walkers amongst us we will be celebrating with a guided day walk on the Saturday 12th APRIL from Hever Station to Penshurst and return so if you can only come along for the day you will be most welcome.
• We meet at 09.30 and we will stop for a meal at 12.45 at Penshurst. (There will be a charge for this).
• Some hosts will be required for the French week and weekend walkers on the Friday and Saturday nights who will return home on the Sunday.
CLOSING Date: for meal arrangements 30th MARCH 2008

Visit by coach to Mont Saint Aignan - Friday 30th May to Sunday 1st June 2008

• An early start on the Friday to meet our French friends, en route, to visit a 'fromagerie' in the afternoon.
• On to Mont Saint Aignan to stay two nights with French families.
• On the Saturday we hope to visit Bayeux where the famous tapestry and other sights can be seen.
• We leave for home on Sunday afternoon.
• Remember that the cost for the trip is to cover the transport involved. Personal expenditure for snacks and souvenirs is down to you but otherwise the stay and the various activities are covered by our French hosts so this represents very good value.
• You do require a full Passport and an EU Health Card. Personal travel insurance is recommended.
• As this visit is during the half-term holidays for school children we hope that some families would like to join us and we do offer a special low cost for the children's travel.
CLOSING Date: needed for coach booking 26th APRIL 2008

See the 'Armada ' at Rouen in July 2008

• We have been kindly offered the chance to see the spectacular 'Armada' visit of sailing ships to Rouen which last took place five years ago.
• This will be a mid-week mini-visit by shared transport staying with French hosts. We shall see the sights on the quay side, on a 'quieter' weekday with a firework display in the evening.
• The dates are still to be confirmed but probably during the second week of July 2008.
• A wonderful opportunity to see a special event!
Limited places. CLOSING Date: 10th June 2008

Autumn Mini-Visit to Edenbridge November 7th - 9th 2008

• We're offering our French visitors a mini-visit in November.
• Arrival Friday evening to stay 2 nights with English hosts.
• We hope to travel to London to see the Lord Mayor's Show and in the evening take in the local Bonfire Parade and Firework Display.

I hope you will be able to participate in some way during the coming season and look forward to hearing from you.      Click to download the Booking / Interest Form for EDTA Activities 2008 in PDF format (19K)
